Portable Ice Bath

Why an ice bath?

Benefits Of Use

Improved circulation

Freezing baths just might make for a happy heart.

When you submerge in cold water, blood rushes to your vital organs. Your heart then needs to work harder, pushing blood through your vessels and giving your bod the vital oxygen and nutrients it needs.

Keep in mind that going on a 10-minute walk can give you a similar blood-circulatory boost. Really don’t want to walk it out? Try an ice bath instead.

Stronger immune system

There is some scientific evidence that ice baths work as an immunity booster. One 2016 study published in the journal PLoS One found that people who take cold showers are almost 30 percent less likely to call in sick for work or school.

Deeper sleep

The cold water can have a positive effect on the central nervous system, which helps you sleep and feel better after spending ten to fifteen minutes in it.

Improved recovery

Cold water immersion can also help athletes feellike they’rerecovering better. A 2017 study found that MMA competitors who dunked in cold water after working out reported being less sore than those who didn’t the same goes for NFL athletes across the board in all sports.

Reduced stress & anxiety

According to 2018 research, cold stimulation (specifically in the neck region) stimulates the vagus nerve, thereby lowering heart rate and potentially reducing stress.

In a 2014 review of hydrotherapy treatments, researchers concluded that cold exposure (like a cold compress or ice bath) can boost the capacity and function of your central nervous system (CNS). A functional CNS can help you sleep better and just feel better.

Reduced inflammation

It can numb pain receptors and bring down inflammation, so you can almost think of it as like a drug-free anesthetic

Boosts Metabolism

Cold exposure increases the brown adipose tissue in the body, which is responsible for converting energy into heat to keep the body warm - this is what gives you the metabolism boost.

How Does It Work

When you are exposed to cold water, your blood vessels constrict and get smaller. And when you get out of the water, the change in temperature causes them to rapidly re-open, which can help to flush the muscles' metabolic waste products.

USED BY KEVIN HART

Recover faster, feel fresher, do more.

Many boxers love a good ice bath for recovery because it reduces inflammation, swelling, and achiness from an intense workout. The cold exposure essentially kickstarts your body’s ability to recover.

When should I use the ice bath?

Ice baths are excellent after a workout for up to 10 minutes.

Taking an ice bath, especially after strength training, will help accelerate recovery and reduce fatigue by preventing inflammation, stimulating the central nervous system, and developing regulated breathing.

FAQs

I am over 6FT will I fit?

We've designed our bath to fit anyone up to 2.1m tall (6' 7")

How long does it stay cool for?

Our ice bath is a giant insulated cool bag that keeps your water cold for up to a week.

In fact, after long-term testing using cold tap water, we found you don't even need to add ice, as it's still cold enough to get the benefits from cold water therapy at 15°C and below.

How easy it to fill with water?

You can use any garden hose to connect to the water connector at the bottom of the ice bath or simply pour to 70% of the bath.

How big is it?

Dimensions:

80 cm diameter

80 cm height

3.5 kg

400 L capacity

Suitable heights up to 2.1m

Does it come with a lid?

Yes, both types come with lids. We have 2 options for you to choose from.

The air tight lid is for rougher conditions and longer lasting clean water.

Can I add Bromine to keep the water cleaner for longer?

Yes you can!

If you'd like the water to last longer, using Bromine tablets or powder should extend the usable time up to 1 month.

Bromine is more skin-friendly and lasts longer than Chlorine in cold water and you'll need very little to be effective.

How can I keep the water clean?

Legally, we cannot tell you what chemicals you should be using as everyone eact differently.

We have seen many customers using Bromine Tablets and UV Light Rods which kill up to 99% of the bacteria in the water.

We also recommend changing the water once a week and adding a touch of soapy water to ensure it's clean and good to go.

How much ice would I need?

The Sub Zero King Ice Bath is integrated with thermal insulated TPE layers, and a Thermo Lid to lengthen the time at a given temperature.

We recommend deploying your Pod outside, under shade, to maximise the passive overnight cooling effect and then adding ice or ice blocks as needed.

The simple answer to this is to aim to get the water below 15 degrees celsius as that is where the benefits are.

In most countries, cold tap water is around 10-12 degrees celsius so it is cold enough to be effective.

Adding ice to this will further reduce the temperature by 3-7 degrees depending on how much ice you use.
